This means that in many cases an upfront planning or advice fee is not required. Ongoing adviser fees for investment products and KiwiSaver plans are most often paid via the product provider.

Insurance

For retail clients generally we do not charge a fee for insurance advice. We will be paid a commission from the insurance provider you take your cover with. For Business Insurance cases we will tend to charge fees for advice, and these will be notified at the time of initial engagement and will done on an hourly rate of the adviser.

Insurance Type

 Typical Range

Upfront Commission (upon implementation)

50 – 230% First Year’s premium

Renewal Commission

4% – 50% Subsequent Year’s premium

Investments and KiwiSaver

We may charge a fee for an investment plan of which we will notify you of costs upfront before you engage our services.

Typically, KiwiSaver providers or Fund Managers pay us a monthly adviser fee or trail commission (all fully disclosed when products are recommended) of between 0.20% p.a. and 1.05% p.a. based on the funds that are invested.

CONFLICTS OF INTEREST

We take any perceived or real conflicts of interest very seriously and have dedicated policy for dealing with such issues whereby we avoid, disclose and/or manage any conflicts so that our interests are placed first and foremost.

For Life insurance and Health insurance, Cranfield Insurance & Investments Limited (Cranfield Group) and the financial adviser receive commissions from the insurance companies whose policies we can recommend. If you decide to take out insurance that we recommend, the insurer will pay a commission to Cranfield Insurance & Investments Limited (also trading as Cranfield Group). The amount of the commission is based on the amount of premium associated with your cover; specific commissions will be advised to you when advice is provided.

If we assist in selling a Whole of Life or Endowment Policy, Policy Exchange (PE) will pay our firm a flat 2% commission of the unenhanced cash value. This does not diminish the extra cash value that you may receive from PE and is not payable if the sale is not proceeded with.

If we refer and fire and general insurance business to Rothbury Insurance Brokers, they may pay our firm a percentage of any commission they are paid.

To ensure that our financial advisers prioritise the client’s interests above their own and to manage the potential conflicts of interest as disclosed above, all Cranfield Insurance & Investments Limited (Cranfield Group) advisers follow an advice process that ensures personalised recommendations are made on the basis, of the client’s goals and circumstances, as advised by the client.

Cranfield Insurance & Investments Limited (Cranfield Group) adviser’s financial advisers complete regular training, including how to manage conflicts of interest. Each adviser has a regular compliance review of their advice process and our compliance programme is reviewed annually by our external compliance adviser.

From time to time, product providers may also reward us for the overall business we provide to them. They may give us tickets to sports events, hampers, discounted conference attendance including airfares or other incentives.
